Spa Closing Service

Let our professional service technicians close your hot tub and spa for the winter months. Our professionals will come and remove the water from all areas of the hot tub, mechanically winterize each piece of your mechanical system and prepare it for a easy start up next season.

Any product purchased without the spa closing service will be made available for pickup at either of our store locations.

Mermaid Pools do not move or lift spas, it is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that the technician has proper access to the spa and its components/equipment prior to their arrival.

Customer's Responsibilities

To help us complete your spa closing efficiently and avoid any delays or damage, please follow these steps before your scheduled service:

Complete All Repairs

Address and finish any outstanding maintenance issues or necessary repairs prior to service.

Provide Clear Access

Ensure unobstructed access to:

  • The yard
  • All four sides of the spa
  • The GFCI (electrical outlet)

Ensure Electrical Access

Provide a working electrical outlet within 10 feet of the spa equipment.

Prepare for Snow Load

Cover the spa with ¾” plywood for support,
OR

Commit to clearing snow and ice from the spa cover daily throughout the winter.

Install a Waterproof Tarp

Cover the spa with a durable, waterproof winter tarp (e.g., Protecta Spa Cover).

Standard Spa Closing - Customer Drains Spa

2 Jet Pumps, Blower, seats up to 7

Included:

  • Disconnect, Drain and Winterize all plumbing and accessories
  • The customer will be responsible for draining the spa before the technician arrives on site

Standard Spa Closing - Mermaid Drains Spa

2 Jet Pumps, Blower, seats up to 7

Included:

  • Disconnect, Drain and Winterize all plumbing
  • Mermaid will drain the spa

The City of Ottawa's sewer use by-law restricts the pumping of salt water. 

Water must meet strict water quality guidelines (including 0 ppm salt) and cannot be discharged into most City water systems*. 

For this reason, Mermaid Pools must drain the spa water on your property ONLY. No exceptions.

Swim Spa Closing
